Don't Regret by Elliot L
[The Scene is set at a public park at about 9:30 pm. It is dark, besides the buzzing streetlights that are illuminating the street. It is dead silent and appears that there are no cars that have passed in a while.]
WOMAN: What?
MAN: I said... I don't love you.
WOMAN: But David [tears in her eyes.]
DAVID: I'm Sorry [turns his head.]
WOMAN: Look at me!
[The woman slowly raises her hand and places it on the man's cheek. The man embraces her hand with his hand. He turns his head towards the women reveling tears in his eyes.]
DAVID: I can't.
[The scene ends. The new scene is set at a public high school. It is more colorful and bright then the last scene. David and a few friends are standing at his locker. They are pushing and playing around, joking with one another. A girl runs up to the group.]
WOMAN: David! [runs up to David]
DAVID: Satine!
[David grabs Satine and whirls her around. He then hugs her and holds her tight. He then looks down at her to see her face. He then gently kisses her on the forehead.]
SATINE: God, I missed you!
DAVID: Yea I did too baby!
[David kisses Satine again but this time on the lips. Then the couple stares at each other for the longest time. David breaks the silence.]
DAVID: So. How was your trip?
SATINE: Fine, fine. Lots of fun [smiles] I fell in the lake a few times [laughs more.]
DAVID: Wow, you're amazing [laughs to himself.]
[The bell rings]
DAVID: Oh. SATINE: Well I will see you later
[The couple holds hands and looks at each other. They then break away their hands, going down opposite sides of the hallway, the scene ends. The next scene begins in the hallway after the class. David looks at Satine but this time she is with a friend.]
SATINE: Yea Angie, writing class was such a drag...
Angie: Yea I know what you mean; those writing teachers can be real mean sometimes
SATINE: Yea well i hope my counselor will let me drop out of it.
[David walks up]
SATINE: Hey you
DAVID: Hey [walks up gives her hug and a kiss on the cheek.]
SATINE: Oh where are my manners thi-
DAVID: In the trash [David smiles and then Satine hits David on the shoulder, Angie laughs.]
SATINE: As I was saying... this is Angie
DAVID: Hello Angie, I'm David
ANGIE: Yes I've heard all about you
DAVID: Uh oh
[The group all starts to laugh.]
SATINE: Oh David by the way, Angie told me that there is a party at Craig’s house tonight.
DAVID: Really?
ANGIE: Yea like everyone’s going to be there.
DAVID: Well that sounds fun.
ANGIE: Well the parties at 7:00... Pm.
DAVID: No it’s in the morning [says sarcastically.] SATINE: David, do you want me to meet you there?
DAVID: Sure that’s cool. [The halls start to get empty with students.]
ANGIE: We better go guys.
DAVID: Yea.
SATINE: Well I will see you at the party.
DAVID: Ok bye [Kisses Satine.]
[The next scene starts at Craig’s house at 7:00 pm (of course not am). There are a lot of kids, and it appears that there are no parents around and that the party looks not in control. There is some alcohol lying around and a lot of kids with cups in there hands while they dance. David appears to be drinking when Satine walks in.]
SATINE: Hey David!
DAVID: He-ey honey-y.
SATINE: ARE you drinking?
DAVID: Jus-st a litt-tle. Common i-it’s a par-rty!
SATINE: God I can't believe you!
[Angie walks up coming from the crowd of people that are dancing.]
ANGIE: So what’s up guys? This party is awesome isn't it!
SATINE: Well I wouldn't know I just got here and David is DRINKING!
DAVID: Jus-st a litt-tle.
SATINE: NO YOUR DRUNK!
ANGIE: You’re not driving home! [Angie laughs but then stops seeing that no one else seems to be in a good mood.]
DAVID: I'm-m Fine!
SATINE: Agggg [Some music starts playing.]
ANGIE: Hey lets go dance!
DAVID: O-ok.
SATINE: God I can't... believe you. [Satine leaves.]
DAVID: Gos-sh who needs her...
ANGIE: Yea lets dance.
[The party goes for a few more hours and then ends. Everyone goes home, and no one is killed. David and Satine don't talk for two days. The next scene starts the third day, at school, when David runs into Satine and Angie.]
SATINE: Hi David.
DAVID: Hi...
ANGIE: Hello David!
DAVID: Hello.
SATINE: Look David, I am sorry I spazzed at you at the party.
DAVID: Yea I am sorry too; I acted like a big jerk.
SATINE: I still care about you a lot though.
DAVID: I do too. [Hugs. Angie walks away.]
DAVID: Well I got to go I will see you later.
SATINE: Yea I will see you later.
[David goes home and starts to do homework. His parents are working and he sees a note on the fridge. "Dinner is in the oven." David pulls out a plate with some French fries and a steak on it. That was the good smell David had thought to himself. After a few bites of his steak he hears the phone ring.]
PERSON: Meet me at the park in a bit. Ok?
DAVID: Ok.
[The phone clicks and the scene ends. The next scene seems familiar it is the same as the opening.]
DAVID: I can't...Angie.
ANGIE: She doesn't have to find out!
DAVID: I can't do that too her!
ANGIE: YOU said you liked me
DAVID: I Do its just-
ANGIE: You liar! GOD I Hate you!
[Angie starts to run in the opposite direction.]
DAVID: WAIT!
[David tries to stop her, but Angie doesn’t pay attention to where she is going. There is a loud car screech on tar and then you hear...David.]
DAVID: Oh god. OH MY GOD [sobbing.]
